Ditch the Damaging Douche, Stay Fresh with IsoFresh

IsoFresh Balancing Vaginal BioGel is a natural douche alternative designed to work with your body to naturally minimize odor and support vaginal pH balance. Proper pH balance is key to keeping the good bacteria in charge of your nether regions. Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), Yeast Infections, and other health concerns are the direct result of too much bad bacteria.

Although doctors advise against douching, many women still want that fresh, clean feeling. However, a feminine wash will wash out your vaginal mucus “armor” and can result in 5-8 times higher HIV and STD infection rates.

Without the body’s own natural mucus protection, vaginal cells have even been found to be more rapidly infected by the HIV virus. (Shen et al., 2011) The US Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health warns women against douching because of increased risk of cancer, infection, and infertility in women who douche. (, Douching Fact Sheet) IsoFresh is a natural douche alternative with ingredients to eliminate odor and support self-cleaning. Don’t wash your vagina – help your vagina wash itself!

IsoFresh is hypo-allergenic, free of hormones, and meets the gold standard of 100% isotonic – matching your bodies’ own tissues.

Clinical Study Results Show that IsoFresh Lowers Vaginal pH and Decreases Vaginal Odor

A recent clinical study, titled Biocompatibility and Efficacy of an Isotonic Buffered Gel for Vaginal pH Balancing, evaluated the links between vaginal pH and feminine odor. IsoFresh lowered vaginal pH of study participants after initial use and over 30 days of use. Study participants also reported a decrease frequency of, and concerns about, unwanted vaginal odor.

Lactic acid is the key to unlocking your vaginal health. You might be familiar with lactic acid as it relates to physical activity – it is the by-product of intense exercise that creates an acidic environment in muscles and causes unfortunate soreness. Your vagina, unlike your muscles, benefits from an acidic pH (~4 pH) in order to kill or discourage other bacteria, yeast, and viruses from thriving.

When the bad bacteria, yeast, and viruses are kept in check, healthy bacteria have room to flourish. In turn, these healthy bacteria naturally produce lactic acid, which helps keep the pH of the vagina in a healthy range. Know this – lactic acid is essential to your vaginal health!

Keeping the balance between friendly and unfriendly bacteria creates an opportunity for optimal vaginal health. Unfortunately, maintaining this balance is easier said than done, as many everyday circumstances such as taking antibiotics, having sex, sweating, feeling stressed,  eating sugar, and douching can give bad bacteria the upper edge.

Once your normally acidic pH gets knocked out of balance, you may experience unwanted odors and irritation . Worse, it can set the stage for the development of bacterial vaginosis and yeast (candida albicans) infections. Using a lactic acid containing gel, like IsoFresh Balancing Gel, can help tip the scales, bringing the vagina back to the acidic environment it needs in order to control yeast overgrowth and bad bacteria.

Shouldn’t Your Vaginal Product Do No Harm?

Most leading feminine products have salts that are two to twenty times higher than levels in a woman’s body. The imbalance in the salt concentrations pushes water in or pulls water out of the vaginal cells causing them to burst or shrivel. Additionally, many products on the shelf contain small, penetrating chemicals such as glycerol (glycerin) and propylene glycol that can move with the water inside the vaginal cells, becoming toxic to the cells.

Such toxicity can lead to real life disturbances in the vaginal ecosystem, including irritation, damage to healthy bacteria in the vagina, and even increased rates of infections, such as Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) and STDs. (Fuchs and Lee, 2007 and World Health Organization Advisory Note, 2012) Consumers are left with the burden of reading labels to determine if their feminine odor product will create further vaginal issues down the road. IsoFresh Balancing Vaginal Gel meets the gold standard of 100% isotonic and can freshen and hydrate for balance of a healthy ecosystem without toxins or high salts that damage vaginal cells and their supporting healthy bacteria.

How IsoFresh pH Balancing Gel Works

IsoFresh Balancing Vaginal Gel works in a completely different way than a douche. Douches and feminine washes use a high volume of liquid that unfortunately wash out much more than just odor. Douches and feminine washes actually wash out the vaginal mucus lining (the body’s natural “armor” against infection) and good bacteria leaving the vaginal cells exposed to damage and vulnerable to infections including BV, STDs, and even HIV. (Martin and Vermund, 2002) In contrast, IsoFresh uses a small volume of balancing gel that bioadheres on contact to the vaginal canal, providing a balanced pH and support for healthy vaginal ecosystem function.

The vagina is only able to effectively self-clean, however, when its vaginal pH is in a healthy range and when its mucus barrier (covering and protecting the cells lining the vagina) and good bacteria ecosystem is intact. Unfortunately, many products to treat vaginal odor, such as douches, strip away the mucus barrier and the good bacteria that keep our vaginas at the low pH. Douching has been shown in numerous medical studies to actually increase the likelihood of bad bacteria that causes that embarrassing smell. Douching may give temporary odor relief but puts the vagina on a downward spiral by stripping away the mucus barrier and healthy bacteria that support a balanced healthy vaginal pH, making a fresh clean feeling even more elusive.

IsoFresh supports the body’s turn over of vaginal cells (exfoliation) that creates the vagina’s renown “self-cleaning”, thereby helping to naturally eliminate odors and maintain a balanced pH. IsoFresh works with the body to self-clean and eliminate the root causes of unwanted odor.

Women’s vaginas are designed to self-clean and when the vaginal ecosystem is healthy, there is no need for extra help. Vaginas routinely come into contact with body fluids of different pH. Semen, menstrual blood, and ovulation mucus all have typical pH levels around 7 which is a good bit higher than the healthy vagina level of around pH 4 (pre-menopause). A healthy vagina encounters these higher pH fluids and quickly cleans them away.

When vaginal pH is off kilter, the bad bacteria takes up residence and flourish in the vagina. Then, when the vagina is exposed to one of the higher pH fluids such as semen or menstrual blood, the bad bacteria trigger the release of embarrassing odors. It becomes clear that solving for odor control must not disrupt the vaginal ecosystem and its ability to self-clean or a woman will end up in a recurring cycle of problems.

IsoFresh is a light, clean gel designed to eliminate odor while supporting freshness and the vagina’s natural health. It is hypoallergenic and contains no coating oils, no glycerin, no parabens, and no hormones. IsoFresh Balancing Vaginal Gel will freshen you naturally and help to support your optimal vaginal health long term.

Choose the Bacteria Balance Bundle for a One-Two Punch

The Balance Bacteria Bundle includes the companion products of IsoFresh Probiotic and IsoFresh Balancing Gel. Both products have a common goal – to maintain a healthy vaginal ecosystem by supporting growth of friendly bacteria and crowding out unhealthy bacteria. The body is built to keep the vagina in a naturally acidic state (pH ~4.5) during much of a woman’s monthly cycle to help kill harmful bacteria and prevent infection. While there is a normal monthly fluctuation from acidic to a more alkaline fertile pH, returning the vagina to a healthy low pH is very important. The vagina has to react to blood, semen, medications, sugar, toxins, smoke and more in order to help the vaginal ecosystem return to an acidic pH. The IsoFresh companion products help give a boost in two different ways.

IsoFresh Balancing Gel is applied inside the vagina and sets the stage for healthy bacteria to grow. The gel lowers the vaginal pH and contains lactic acid which helps healthy bacteria proliferate, crowding out the unhealthy bacteria.

A once daily IsoFresh Probiotic replenishes the healthy bacteria. These friendly bacteria produce lactic acid on their own which keeps the circle of vaginal health going.

The quickest way to support your vaginal health is to use both IsoFresh Probiotic and IsoFresh Balancing Gel. Try the Balance Bacteria Bundle.

“There can be a lot of shame for women since they are told that the vagina is “self-cleaning” and they shouldn’t have to use products to re-balance their natural pH. Sometimes the vagina needs to hydrate and exfoliate to begin re-balancing, even in healthy patients.”
